As the most important part of any aircraft, the wings need to be both stable, durable and efficient all at once. To fit these criterias we use the NACA 4412 airfoil profile which we cut into our foam wing shape via wire cutting.
After our foam is cut and our wings rough shape is ready, we start the fiberglass coating process. This process strenghtens the wing while giving it a much better aerodynamic surface and an overall smoother efficiency.
Working the mould
To make this process in the easiest way possible we use wing molds which we sand and use filler spray on to get a nice smooth surface. Then we put the fiberglass sheet on the mold with epoxy glue and slowly cover our entire wing. Once it is done we put the top part of the mold back in and leave it to rest for 24 hours.
Once the hours have passed and our wing is ready we cut any excess fiberglass and sand it finely to make sure of its aerodynamic properties. Now that we have a durable and efficient wing, to make it stable we place a carbon fibre pipe inside the wings that go across the body and the entirety of the wings.
Now after all of that, we have a stable, durable and efficient wing ready to fly!
